~Mind Blowing: Search for this movie immediately. It can only be described as pure greatness and possible an instant classic.

~So Good: Highly recommended because for one reason or another it stands out above the usual fair. Put the movie on your radar as it wont disappoint.

~In the Middle: The movie is a nothing special, average affair. It may entertain in the short term but it will be easily forgettable in the long haul.

~Warning: This movie is a cliched driven slop of familiar territory. Only watch if you're really of fan of this type of material.

~Steaming Pile: The movie is absolute garbage, a complete bore, and not worth the time or effort.

Scouts Guide to the Apocalypse (2015)

Premise:
When a zombie outbreak occurs a group of friends, who have spent years together in the Boy Scouts,

My Take:
A solid script which hits the right notes between comedy and gore. The cast is enjoyable with the material and there is enough gore moments to make one happy. An enjoyable flick.

Rating: So Good

He Never Died (2015)

Premise:
A man who's origins go back to the beginning of the Bible tries to survive through the years by a strict regiment and code. His estranged daughter suddenly shows up one day in need of help. But assisting her will put his ways in jeopardy.

My Take:
This seems to be a part for carved out for Henry Rollins to play. He is simply fantastic in it really just portraying a version of himself. The story unfolds nicely and has a good explanations to what is happening. And when all hell breaks loose then just watch out because the blood flies.

Rating: So Good

Premise:
A group of kids find an ancient song that allows demons to takeover the Earth

My Take:
Plenty of splatter and comedy in this flick. There's a good portrayal by the cast for a story which has familiar tones. It's enjoyable film but wanted a little more out of it.

Premise:

My Take:
I enjoyed this "cult classic" from the 80's far more than I probably should have. It's rather humorous and over the top but makes zero excuses for the content.

Premise:
A zombie uprising occurs. Two men and a child seek shelter and carve out an existence over the years. A new zombie creature comes out and threatens that way of life.

My Take:
A movie with a solid story, acting, and a beautiful snowy landscape.

Premise:
Students sneak into their high school to sabotage the latest play. A play which saw the unfortunate death of a student years earlier. Once the kids get into the school, they realize something does not want them to leave.

My Take:
Another cliched entry in the found footage/ghost sub-genre of horror. Mostly I found the movie to be uninteresting and annoying

Premise:
A small, rural town starts to get attacked by something coming from the woods.

My Take:
It is well paced and smart movies that does a great job building up dread and mystery as the sheriff tries to figure out what or who is attacking his town. It all leads up to the big final in the third act.

Premise:
A scout troop goes on a camping trip for the weekend only to discover the woods are inhabited by another.

My Take:
I had a lot of fun watching this flick. It takes the viewer down paths no necessarily expected and created great empathy for the main character, an odd young boy.

Premise:
A man goes off his medication and those around him suffer deadly consequences.

My Take:
Ryan Reynolds does a very convincing job of a man who struggles with the demons of mental illness. While the movie is more often then not played for dark comedy there is plenty for horror fans to enjoy here.

Premise:
A recently paralyzed woman has to move back into her rural family home with her estranged father. Soon strange forces start showing up around the house causing havoc.

My Take:
I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought. While the story is somewhat typical it has enough twists and punch to keep the viewer interested

My Take:
My I am just tired of all these second rate zom-coms that come out. This movie doesn't really offer much to the genre as it's full of cliche characters and not much gore.

My Take:
I found this to be a rather slow movie. The actors are solid with the tale but I just couldn't get into it.

Premise:

My Take:
Another fun movie in the Marvel line up. Sure there are flaws, but it's fantasy so I choose to ignore it.
