Premise:
Special effects artists compete to win the contest.

My Take:
I used to watch this show a lot until getting burned out on it because SyFy ran about two seasons a year. But my wife stumbled upon it and rather enjoys watching. It's really more of the same with talented effects artists

Director: Fabrice Du Welz

Premise:
A serial killer offers his one night stand a chance to be his partner in crime.

My Take:
A dark and twisted and gory tale of twisted lovers murdering lonely middle age women. I found it hard to get through as the characters are not likable or all that interesting.

Honeymoon (2014)

Starring: Rose Leslie, Harry Treadaway
Director: Leigh Janik

Premise:
Newlyweds spend their honeymoon at a family cabin in the woods. Soon the wife starts changing and acting strange. The husband is confused and concerned but cant figure out what is happening.

My Take:
The two leads put out a powerful performance. The intensity just keeps racking up right until the final frame. The movie hits the right notes and leaves a lot up to audience interpretation, which my imagination frightens me worse than anything that can be put on screen..

Director: Paul Davids

Premise:
A best selling author decides to try and find proof of the deceased communicating with the living. He focuses on Forrest J. Ackerman, his estate, and tales surrounding strange occurrences since his death.

My Take:
Though the documentary really fails to deliver on it's opening question it is rather captivating to listen to the interviews from all these people talking about the late Forrest J. Ackeman

My Take:
A slow moving thriller with supernatural elements and Viking lore. The cast is decent as is the story but it does get a tad boring in spots.

Knock Knock (2015)

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, Ana de Armas
Director: Eli Roth

Premise:
Alone for the weekend, a married man tries to help two young girls in trouble.  They end up having sex. The next morning wont leave his house and have games in store for the man.

My Take:
I really didn't really like the film but could help but continue watching it.The whole movie is about a nice guy making a bad decision and paying the ultimate cost. Maybe you aren't suppose to enjoy but rather just take it all in. Though I would probably be giving Eli Roth way too much credit then as I highly doubt if that was his intent.

Lust of the Dead (2012)

AKA: Rape Zombie: Lust of the Dead

Starring: Rina Aikawa, Yui Aikawa, Asami
Director: Naoyuki Tomomatsu

Premise:
An infection causes men to become sex crazed zombies and attack women.

My Take:
One knows what you to expect with a a title Rape Zombie. It's an over the top flick in every way. I'd like to say there's a message to the film but I think the makers were just going for ample amount of nudity and vicera and shock value. They did something right as it as spawned two more in the series.

Premise:
A janitor stumbles into a bar on Christmas Eve with a tale of cadavers rising from the dead. If only the tale wasn't true.

This is a low grade mess that stretches its premise out way too thin. There is lots of splatter though.

Starring: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Michael Cudlitz, Josh McDermitt, Sonequa Martin-Green, Christian Serratos, Alanna Masterson, Lennie James, Jeffrey Dean Morgan,

Premise:
The second half of this season focuses on Rick's group discovering their world is a lot bigger when they discover other communities in the area. All bow down to one large army called The Saviors.

My Take:
If you watch the show then it's no surprise the cycle it follows. Rick and his gang gets cocky. Then they get into a situation where people die. Rick get shocked, then kick ass. It has happened several times with each threat being a little more menacing as time passes. But the show it so damn good at playing out the tension and drama.

Starring: Monroe Mann, Ronnie Khalil, Kayla Blogna, Kate Costello, Crystal Arnette
Director: Monroe Mann, Ronnie Khalil, Jorge Valdes-Iga

Premise:
A group of friends visit a family lake house in Maine only to start getting killed off.

My Take:
The movie does an average job of tying in Stephen King references but it also has an entire cast of dumb and unlikable characters. It ends up being a below average slasher without much substance and misses on most comedy attempts.
