The Conjuring (2013)

Starring: Lili Taylor, Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston
Director: James Wan

Premise:
In 1971, famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren help a family in Rhode Island who just moved into a house with several unwanted, supernatural guests already living there.

My Take:
I dont often jump in movies. If a flick gets me once, it has done a good job. The first half of this one got me to jump in my seat six times. It has a great emotional build up as the viewer gets wrapped up in this family and the situation gets intense very quickly. I didn't realize so much of the movie would focus on the Warren's, which was a pleasant surprise because it creates a connection with each character and their families. The movie takes a familiar premise and adds a lot of surprises and suspense. This ended up being one of the best horror movies I have seen this year.

Rating: So Good (and then some)
