Proud to admit that I am a horror junkie. However, my definition of what falls under the realm of horror entertainment is fairly wide. Horror is an emotion experienced differently by individuals. These are short reviews of the movies, television series, novels, comics, albums, and any thing else which crosses my path if I feel like falls into the wide world of horror entertainment.

Salem, Season 2 (2015)
Starring: Janet Montgomery, Shane West, Seth Gabel, Tamzin Merchant, Lucy Lawless, Elise Eberle, Ashley Madekwe
Premise:
Witches in the town of Salem plan to resurrect the Dark Lord and bring havoc about the Earth.
My Take:
Season two raised the bar on just about everything. Not only did we get the Salem witches battling each other and town folk, but an ancient witch shows up and the vessel for the AntiChrist is reveled. The show got so deliciously twisted and pushed the boundaries of gore and nudity on television.

Zombeavers (2015)
Starring: Rachel Melvin, Cortney Palm, Lexi Atkins, Rex Linn, Jake Weary, Peter Gilbroy, Hutch Dano, Bill Burr, John Mayer
Director: Jordan Rubin
Premise:
A girl's weekend away in the country turns bad when their boyfriends show up. And the mutated beavers.
My Take:
This is obviously a movie which doesn't take itself too seriously. It's rather outlandish, but in a classic, good B-movie way. There are laughs, nudity, and gore enough for all.

Anacondas: The Hunt For the Blood Orchid (2004)
Starring: KaDee Strickland, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Morris Chestnut, Eugene Byrd
Director: Dwight L. Little
Premise:
A group of scientist travel deep into the Borneo jungles to find a rare orchid with the powers of delaying age and healing. Too bad the local snakes have been munching on it too.
My Take:
There's a reason I avoided this sequel. It's not very good and not very entertaining. At least it doesn't have Jon Voight playing a Hispanic.

Killer Mermaid (2014)
AKA: Nymph
Starring: Franco Nero, Kristina Kelbe, Natalie Burn, Dragfan Micanovic
Director: Milan Todorovic
Premise:
Two Americans visit their friend at his Mediterranean mansion. They visit an abandoned Nazi military post which happens to harbor a deadly creature.
My Take:
At least the movie gives the great Franco Nero a juicy role. Not much else is going on here except beautiful scenery and special effects

Alien Outpost (2014)
Starring: Adrian Paul, Brandon Auret, Rick Ravenello, Reilly McClendon
Director: Jabar Rasiaini
Premise:
In the future aliens have set up on Earth with military units trying to stop them. A group of soldiers tell their story to a documentary film crew.
My Take:
The movie has a decent plot but there is simply too much interview style segments and talking instead of action and aliens. It got rather boring.

My Dead Girlfriend (2006)
Starring: Brett Kelly
Director: Brett Kelly
Premise:
A man accidentally runs over his girlfriend and kills her. Good thing she put a spell on herself to bring her back after death.
My Take:
I normally think Brett Kelly makes unique and entertaining low budget movies. This one however misses the mark. It's mixes comedy with romance and puts in the familiar cabin in the woods scenario. None of it is done all that well.

Sloppy the Psycopath (2012)
Starring: Mike O'Mahoney
Director: Mike O'Mahoney
Premise:
A clown gets fired from his job and goes into business for himself. Too bad he also has a mental breakdown.
My Take:
There is a decent amount of gross stuff this flick. Unfortunately there is not enough substance or character development to make the audience care.

The Dead 2: India (2014)
Starring: Joseph Millson,
Director: Howard J. Ford, Jonathan Ford
Premise:
A man tries to make his way back to his pregnant girlfriend after a zombie epidemic breaks out.
My Take:
The movie is a standard story but it is the setting which makes it different. One doesn't see zombie flicks in India too much or how it impacts their culture and beliefs. The cinematography showing the country's landscape is great.

As Above, Far Below (2014)
Starring: Perdita Weeks, Ben Feldmen, Francois Civil
Director: John Erick Dowdle
Premise:
An archaeologist takes a group under the catacombs of Paris to search for the fabled Philosopher's Stone not knowing the dangers that await.
My Take:
The movie has a very original and entertaining story. The found footage style doesn't detract from it, though doesn't help much either. By the end the positives of the flick far outweigh the negatives.

Director: Matt Jespersen, Maclain Nelson
Premise:
A vampire kills his bride and is unable to shed his fangs until the reincarnation of her appears several years later.
My Take:
I will admit that it was a slightly better than anticipated vampire comedy. Dont expect much and you might be entertained.

Director: Mikkel Braenne Sandemose
Premise:
An archaeologist searches for the true meaning behind an ancient Viking rune. He takes a team to a remote mountain area and a giant serpent living in the waters.
My Take:
A worth watching flick which was much better than expected. It has solid special effects too. The basic find a creature then try to escape time of story manages to keep the viewer entertained.

Midnight FM (2010)
Starring: Soo Aee, Ji-tae Yu
Director: Sang Man Kim
Premise:
A radio host prepares for her final broadcast when a psychotic fan interrupts with the news he has her daughter and he is taking over the show.
My Take:
The movie gets a lot of mileage out of a familiar story by throwing in a few new wrinkles. The cast is good and so is the direction but in the end the movie is rather forgettable.

Barracuda (1978)
Starring: Wayne Crawford, William Kerwin
Director: Harry Kerwin, Wayne Crawford
Premise:
A small beach town is suddenly over ran with barracuda attacks.
My Take:
What appears to be a Jaws rip-off takes a sharp turn about half way through into a government conspiracy movie. Either way, it's bad and the only reason I watched it is because my fiancee loves animal attack movies.

Game of Thrones, Season 5 (2015)
Starring: Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harrington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldu, Aiden Gillen, Alfie Allen, Stephen Dilliane, Carice van Houten
Premise:
Season 5 has Tyrion Lannister fleeing aligning with Danereys Targaryen after killing his father, Danereys is losing control of city as an uprising is starting, Cersei Lannister plots a way to rid her family from the Tyrell family line by using a religious sect which eventually leads to her persecution, Jon Snow attempts to bring the Wildings and the Night's Watch together to fight the Walkers, Stannis Baratheon tries to reclaim the North as the new king, Sansa Stark is wedded to the the abusive Ramsay Snow, and Arya Stark finds a mystic to train her in the ways of an assassin.
My Take:
I honestly found much of this season rather mediocre. Then the death, destruction, carnage, and big plot twists of the last three episodes happened. It sucked me right back into it. What a build up.
