Premise:
A group of people from the city get lost in the country and are kidnapped by a family.

My Take:
The story is simple with people being out of their element, captured, and tortured. Also there is no shortage of stupid people doing stupid things to not help their situation. The subplot about why the family is doing it is rather hard to figure out (or maybe just lost in translation).

Premise:
A stripper gets kidnapped by a crazed religious fanatic, locked in a cell, and tortured.

My Take:
A graphic flick that really doesn't have much going for it... unless you like rather pointless torture scenes.

Van Diemen's Land (2009)

Premise:
The story of one of Australia's most legendary criminals, Alexander Pearce, who in 1822 escaped a harsh prison to try and survive the wilds of Tasmania. Other convicts also escaped but only one made it out alive.

My Take:
A slow moving and gritty movie about unpleasant individuals trying to survive a harsh, uncharted wilderness in the search for freedom.

Baskin (2016)

Premise:
A group of police officers get called for backup to a secluded, abandoned factory. What they find upon arriving is a beyond anything they could comprehend.

My Take:
If you want a "what the fuck" movie then this is for you. Things are not wrapped up neatly or even fully explained but it's more than made up for with the sheer amount of craziness that is shown on screen.

Rating: So Good

Stoic (2010)

Premise:
Three prison inmates turn on another after a poker game. They torture and abuse him and then try to cover it up.

My Take:
This is a hard movie to set through. It's a demonstration of human brutality. The flaws in logic doesn't help much either. I have never seen prisoners have so much access to items and guarded so little.

Nude In The Night: Salvation (2010)

Premise:
A man is hired to help a young woman find a watch in the forest. What he doesn't know is the woman, along with her older sister and mother, are murderers. Soon the man in pulled into their world of violence, sex, and mystery.

My Take:
Apparently this is a sequel to a flick called Nude In the Night with the same main character, but it is also a stand alone film. I was pleasantly surprised with this engaging movie. There is some heavy stuff in this like sexual abuse of children, prostitution, murder, and domestic abuse. And the cast shines with the difficult material.

I Spit On Your Grave 2 (2013)

Premise:
A naive model gets attacked by a stalker photographer. After the man rapes her and kills another person, he and his brothers kidnap and ship her off to their home in Romania where they keep her. She eventually escapes and has her revenge.

My Take:
Major plot holes take away from the story, The lead actress does a fantastic job with the difficult subject matter of sexual assault and human trafficking, but then turns crazy psycho in her payback. Some very difficult scenes to watch but overall not anything that hasn't been done before.

I'll Never Die Alone (2008)

Premise:
A group of young woman are driving through the country when they witness a murder of another girl. Then find themselves being tracked down by the murderers. The men catch them, rape the woman, beat them, and leave them to die. But the woman managed to collect themselves and fight back against the attackers.

My Take:
A hard film to watch because of the realistic brutality. The director does not shy away from the violence with long, wide shots of the acts. Plenty of gore comes later as the heroines find strength to fend for themselves. A rather difficult and powerful flick with an exploitation feel due to subject matter.

Rating: So Good (but not for every one)

Premise:
A crime scene photographer starts to delve into madness and fantasies as the job messes with his mind. And when a new relationship turns bad, the man cant separate the two worlds.

My Take:
The movie was rather hard to rate for me. I liked the premise and some of the scenes but the overall execution of the material was lacking. And the running time was too long. But the main detraction was the rather annoying main character

Only Gods Forgive (2013)

Premise:
A British drug dealer is killed by Thai police detective causing his overbearing mother to arrive in Bangkok and guilt her other drug dealing son to avenge his brother's death so the family's name remains untainted.

My Take:
The movie is extremely slow paced. It is also beautifully filmed and contains the directors trademark bursts of violence and realistic gore (which is why the movie is being reviewed). There are some brutality in the movie which made me squirm. Defintely a film that will divide the audience.

Lost Souls (1980)

Premise:
Illegal Chinese immigrants are caught trying to sneak into Hong Kong are caught by a gang and subjected to devious methods of torture.

My Take:
If you into films where a group of sadistic men rape, torture, and kill naked woman and sometimes men and children, then maybe this movie is for you. Even though it was probably far more shocking when it was released, it is still quite disturbing. But there is really no rhyme or reason for the violence or explanations behind the actions. Some rave over this "classic explotation" movie, but I am not one of them.

Someone's Knocking At My Door (2009)

Premise:
A group of medical students are being stalked by a serial murder rapist couple thought to have died years earlier.

My Take:
This is a film like you've probably never seen before. It oozes sex and gore; often graphically in the same scene. It's a twisted, sadistic head trip for 75 minutes before the ending wraps up in a neat, little package which has been seen many times over. And that's my biggest complaint.

Bedevilled (2010)

AKA:  Kim Bok-Nam Salinsageonui Jeonmal

Premise:
A woman takes a vacation to a small island where her grandfather lived and only a handful of people still live. Among those is a childhood girlfriend who the elder women treat like a work slave and the men use for their own desires. After her child is killed, the girl has enough and takes revenge out on those who have done her wrong.

My Take:
A lot of the scenes in this movie made me cringe. This poor woman is beaten, raped, and looked down upon by all. Yet she carries on. Until her little girl killed and then she finally snaps.
The movie moves a tad slow but that only allows the viewer to soak up what you have just seen and create sympathy for the woman. When the shit hits the fan there is plenty of realistic gore to be seen. 
The brutality and hate from the characters ooze off the screen.

Rating: So Good
