Premise:
The third volume continues the tale of Skinner Sweet and Pearl. During WWII Henry, Pearl's husband, signs up to lead a secret mission to a small island outside of Japan to destroy a new breed of vampires.

My Take:
This volume continues the backstory of Skinner while advancing it forward in the years. It is another fun volume to read.

Premise:

My Take:
A movie about a man making a movie with one strange sequence after another which somehow fit together into the madness. It stays within the patterns of the director's other works

Rating: So good

Coherence (2013)

Premise:
A group of friends get together for the evening. There is a comet passing close to Earth at the same time. Strange things begin to happen.

My Take:
The movie does an amazing job at creating dread with nothing more than a layered story within one location and well rounded characters. With a story like this it would be easy to get convoluted but it never does and instead keeps the viewer engaged until the big climax..

Ferocious Planet (2011)

Premise:
Scientists and soldiers are accidentally zapped into a parallel universe where vicious aliens attack.

My Take:
Is it an alternate reality or another planet... who really cares as there are so many holes in the story. The movie is bad, but not in a fun and watchable way.

Silent Hill: Revelation (2012)

Premise:
After her father disappears a girl must go to the ghost town of Silent Hill to find him, where an evil society awaits her.

My Take:
I saw this movie in the theater in 3D and it made for some cool effects. Also really dug the kickass creatures.
The story uses, at some point, all the main characters from the original movie which makes for a seamless transition to the sequel. I never played the game so I no idea of the story going in and I was pleasantly surprised. However, the ending is a tad weak compared to the rest of the movie.

John Dies At the End

Synopsis:
Two loser take a drug that causes them to see creatures from another universe. What follows is a series of weird occurrences which lead to John and Dave discovering a plot of the other reality trying to take over our world.

My Take:
The short synopsis does not to this book justice. It is far more complex and layered. It's laugh out loud funny at times and the prose contains plenty of graphic and gory details.

Do yourself a favor. Dont wait for the movie. Go pick this gem up right now.
