Premise:
A woman is kidnapped by a mysterious group who claim they want to unlock her special chromosome traits.

My Take:
The movie does a good job of creating a sense of dread and urgency but the story wraps up a little too easily for my taste.

Paranoid (2000)

Premise:
A young model finds herself the captive of an former rock star and his friends. She also realizes that she is not the first to be in this position.

My Take:
The suspense is lacking as the main character never really seems in danger and villains never really seem to act as cruel or menacing as lead to believed.

Premise:
A woman is kidnapped and finds herself being help captive by a serial killer who is assembling the perfect girl.

My Take:
There's quite a lot of seen this before and better going on with this flick.

Missing (2009)

Premise:
A woman gets captured by a serial killer in a remote Korean village. Her sister searches for her and experiences first hand what happened to her.

My Take:
A familiar story is made watchable by a believable cast and a few gut churning scenes.

Prisoners (2013)

Premise:
Two small girls are abducted and the police's main suspect is released due to lack of evidence. The father of one of the children doesn't accept it and kidnaps the man. He tortures him to try and find out the truth. In the meantime the head detective works the case.

My Take:
This gritty and intense film is at times hard to watch as the viewer feels the raw emotion from the parents. And the mystery of what actually happened to the children is winding road which keeps one guessing. The movie isn't without some faults, especially the last few minutes, but it is an emotional ride.

Gone (2012)

Premise:
Nearly a year after her abduction, where the culprit was never caught and the police couldn't find much evidence, a girl's sister goes missing and she suspects the abductor has returned.

My Take:
I feel like this movie is full of too many holes in the script and head scratching "why?" moments. I found myself wondering how it got made.
It's full of great character actors showing up for a scene or two then disappear. Amanada Seyfried is outstanding as the lead.
Maybe if I shut off all logic the film would have been more enjoyable.

Megan Is Missing (2011)

Premise:
Through webcam, video tape, news broadcast, and surveillance footage we watch the tale of two teenage girl who go missing.

My Take:
This movie provided me with a wide range of emotions and had me glued to my seat.
It starts out with these annoying teen kids, which feel very realistically portrayed by all the actors especially the two main characters. Then you get the layers behind the two kids which add depth to why they act the way they do. Then the abduction happens and we watch how the one girl handles her friend disappearance and how the media handles missing children cases. Then she gets abducted too and see the true horror to what happened.

This isn't the type of movie I want to watch again. But it is a terrifying story grounded in reality. If I had kids this would be required viewing for them, then we'd discuss it. Communication.

Rating: So Good
