Premise:
A virus turns people into zombies which swarm the streets of Taipei.

My Take:
Tawain's first entry into the zombie world is rather disappointing. It's a lot of the same things seen before, the surviving humans are more sadistic than the zombies, and too many convoluted seperate characters stories at once (such as a serial killer and a gang and a terrorist and a mother trying her find her daughter). They all end in the same place at the end... dead. And one really doesn't care about any of these characters. However, there are good special effects and cinemaphotography looks excellent.

Invitation Only (2009)

Premise:
Five people receive an invitation to a party, only to realize they are to be hunted, tortured, and killed for the amusement of the party guests.

My Take:
Billed as "Tawain's first slasher", the movie missed most of the trademark items found in slashers. It's much closer in style to the term I hate, "torture porn". There's a lot blood flying and decent gore gags, but ultimately I really didn't care about these people who were being hunted or those hunting them.

Good Will Evil (2008)

Premise:
A couple adopt a young girl who seems to be harbouring a ghost in her stuff animal.

My Take:
A slightly different ghost story from the normal Asian horror. An unstable wife who is dealing with her own troubled past from youth is relunctant to become a mother. Her husband is an up an coming politian and pushes for adoption. The get a young girl who is awkard socially and had her own traumas. Weird things start to happen and the wife isn't sure if its her mental state or real. Then the fun beings.
The little girl's performance is simply amazing. The range of emotion she brings to each scene astonished me.
