Premise:

My Take:
The movie is a little too confusing and a little too meta for it's own good. Sometimes a little explanation is a good thing.

Cub (2015)

Premise:
A scout troop goes on a camping trip for the weekend only to discover the woods are inhabited by another.

My Take:
I had a lot of fun watching this flick. It takes the viewer down paths no necessarily expected and created great empathy for the main character, an odd young boy.

Loft (2008)

AKA: Tödliche Affären

Premise:
Five married men share a loft as a place where they all take their mistresses. One night they all come in to find a dead women and they realize that one of them is a murderer.

My Take:
An outstanding mystery seeps through this film. It had me guessing up until the end. Excellent cinemaphotography helps add to the mood.

Vampires (2010)

Director: Vincent Lannoo


Premise:
A film crew is invited to document a family in Belgium's vampire community. The crew finds out the vampires are a lot like humans just with a slightly different set of problems and rules to follow.

My Take:
The movie offers a unique take on vampire lore and confines itself within the world it's created. This is a good thing. It's also thick with dark comedy and social satire. 
My biggest drawback was that I never really cared about the main family. The Father is a strict in his rules and ways. The Mother seems crazy. The daughter wants to be human again. And the son wants to bed the wife of the vampire king. None of this matters much to me.
Still, there are far worse vampire movies out there.
