My Take:
A fairly original story, supernatural killer, and strong characters make this a decent flick.

Premise:

My Take:
The movie plays on tension and fear of the unknown as neither family really trusts each other. It unnerving and plays out very realistic.

Premise:
A colony ship comes across a new planet that harbors a horrible secret.

My Take:
I am not going to pretend like there aren't complaints and faults with the movie. There are many: smart people doing dumb things, little character development, disappointing CGI, a completely obvious ending, and what feels like a short run time (even at two hours). However there is still enough to keep me sucked in. Like most fans, I had hoped the prequel trilogy would be more than it's turned out to be. At this point, it is what it is and maybe the next one will sum things up.

Rating: In the middle (but damn if I still dont love this franchise)

Premise:

My Take:
The movie does a great  job of creating tension and dread. You feel a twist is coming but I never guessed exactly what it was. A great cast all around helps to keep the story feeling grounded.

My Take:
A decent series filled with familiar faces from the UK. Most episodes deal with people fears using a supernatural scope to tell the story.

Favorite Episode:
Prophecy - Years after a group of friends hold a seance the premonitions start coming true and each begin to have something horrible occur to them.

Premise:

My Take:
An intense thriller with a good, even if it's predictable, story and an outstanding cast especially Macarena Gomez as the unhinged lead.

My Take:
A unique series with each episode containing two or three interweaving tales. It often keeps the viewer guessing and scratching their head.

Premise:
A group of people discuss having sleep paralysis and the terror it causes them and try to get answers to why it occurs.

My Take:
I have always been a fascinated with this subject, especially since finding out my wife suffers from it. The movie does goes into the history of sleep paralysis but mostly it's people describing their terrors and reenactments. It's interesting but at the same time it could have been so much better.

Premise:
The second half of this season focuses on Rick's group discovering their world is a lot bigger when they discover other communities in the area. All bow down to one large army called The Saviors.

My Take:
If you watch the show then it's no surprise the cycle it follows. Rick and his gang gets cocky. Then they get into a situation where people die. Rick get shocked, then kick ass. It has happened several times with each threat being a little more menacing as time passes. But the show it so damn good at playing out the tension and drama.

My Take:
This movie is a sequel to a web series, which I never saw. It's an interesting concept with decent effects but over all is lacking and slow.

My Take:

Favorite Episode:
"Amazon Apocalypse" - Wade tries to figure out a thirty year old mystery of what ate close to 200 passengers when a river boat sunk.

Premise:
A concert pianist is about to star in his big comeback concert when he receives a note from unknown person which reads "play the wrong note and your wife dies".

My Take:
There is a lot things in this movie one has to let slide in order to enjoy it... and even then. Too many questions left for the viewer and too much suspension of disbelief. Too bad because it is a solid cast and the cinemaphotography is outstanding.

Premise:
Three girl friends go camping on a secluded island. They run into a trio of hunters. When one of them forces his way onto one of the girls and is killed in self defense, the other two hunters want revenge and start to hunt the girls

My Take:
Not a bad flick though it has many familiar scenarios running through it. Nice to see the talented Kate Ashelton take a turn behind the camera but it would have been nice see a tad more of a female slant with the story.

A Fantastic Fear of Everything (2012)

Premise:
A writer develops a case of paranoia while researching about Victorian era serial killers. When a executive wants to meet and buy his script, the writer must face his fears.

My Take:
A movie where I never anticipated where it was going. And I wont ruin the enjoyment for viewers by revealing it. The first half plays out like a comedy of errors for the main character. And the second half puts in a situation where many of his past fears must be dealt with in order to survive. Simon Pegg is a joy to watch handle the material.

The Following, Season 2 (2014)

Premise:
Season two has Ryan Hardy, now a drunk, teaching at a university until a copy cat cult comes out and starts committing murders on the anniversary of Joe Carroll's death. Hardy thinks Carroll is still alive and some how behind the new murders. Joe is in fact alive and in hiding but wants to find out who is killing in his name. Eventually their paths lead to a wealthy woman and her family of psychopaths.

My Take:
How many different cults and serial killers can you throw at the viewer in one season? It sort of ridiculous the twists and turns in season two. And once again the FBI is always one step behind the master plan of Joe. Too many coincidences happen that bail out the killers just in time and render authorities and Ryan Hardy helpless and clueless. While I still enjoy the two main actors go at it, the rest of the story has gotten too out of control for me. When season 3 comes around, this viewer may not be following any more. There is simply too many other far superior shows out there.

My Take:
A gripping movie where the viewer can feel the isolation and fear of the two astronauts as each attempt to get back home is met with a road block.

The Fields (2011)

Premise:
A young boy goes to stay with his grandparents in a rural farming community after his parents split up. Soon they are all terrorized by a unknown group.

My Take:
A slow moving drama where the viewer is lead to believe these attacks are due to the young boy's over active imagination. It ends up not being the case. And there is a lot of bizarre and strange scenes to enjoy. Plus Choris Leachman is fantastic. But by the end, it's all a tad under satisfying of an outcome.
