Premise:
A woman is determined to contact the spirit of her dead son in order to get revenge on the ones who killed him. She hires an occultist to perform the long and daunting ceremony.

My Take:
The majority of the movie is all about the black magic ritual and the process of going through it.

Dark Touch (2014)

Premise:
A young girl is the survivor of a massacre that kills her entire family. No one believes her when she says the house is to blame. The neighbors take her in, only to find out something horrible manifesting within the child.

My Take:
The entire movie's underlying and not so subtle theme has to do with child abuse. With the director's track record of odd films, I really wanted more of the macabre.

Premise:
A clown is accidentally killed during a kid's birthday party. Years later he comes back from the dead for revenge on the those kids who were at the party.

My Take:
A rather humorous but standard slasher flick.

Premise:
A mysterious man shows up a small town police station. He seems to know about every persons deepest and darkest secrets which he uses to drive them into violence and madness.

My Take:
The movie was interesting but it came just short of being special. Still it's very much worth watching. The cast is fantastic and the atmosphere is top notch.

Premise:
Two women are constantly on the run from the mysterious Brotherhood turn up in coastal town where one makes friends with young man and tells him the pairs secret.

My Take:
An inventive twist on vampire lore which is beautiful filmed and paced. It adds just the right amount of drama and eerie mystery as it bounces between the women's origin and their current lives. Also extremely well acted by all involved.

Grabbers (2013)

Premise:
On a small island off the coast of Ireland, an alien creature comes from the sea and starts to prey on the inhabitants. The residents must band together to stop the creature.

My Take:
A fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. Case in point, the residents discover the best way to fight the creature is by getting drunk as it will raise the alcohol level in their blood. It's has a solid cast, a few scares, and laughs.

Rating: So Good

Citadel (2012)

Premise:
A man watches his pregnant wife die at the hands of street kids and is unable to help her. He now must raise his newborn baby while battle a severe case of agoraphobia. The kids keep coming for him and the baby.

My Take:
I often enjoy movies which have an original premise and have more depth than they appear at first glance. This flick has both. The street kids aren't exactly what seem and the man's phobia battle creates a lot of nice friction. Plus there's James Cosmo chewing up scenery as a priest hell bent on aradicating the kids. Lots of tension here and it's most definitely worth watching.
