Killer Condom (1996)

Starring: Peter Lohmeyer
Director: Matin Walz

Premise:
A sleazy hotel has defected condoms that kill people

My Take:
The movie doesn't take itself seriously and that's about the only saving grace. It's a classic Troma flick that some will love and others will despise.

Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)

Starring: Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris
Director: Gary J. Tunnicliffe

Premise:
Three detectives are trying to solve a series of horrific murders. What they start to dig up may not be of this world.

My Take:
Really all this has to the with the Hellraiser series is a group of Cenobites act as judge and jury for people. If you are looking for a lot of Pinhead, you wont find it (and he has a rather emo brooding to him). While the film has a nice look and truly gross scenes, overall the story is sort of a mess.

Bite (2015)

Starring: Elma Begovic, Annette Wozniak, Denise Yuen, Jordan Gray
Director: Chad Archibald

Premise:
A woman is bitten by something during her bachelorette party trip overseas. Her body starts changing and morphing upon her return home.

My Take:
One tends to forgive the unlikable character's lack of judgment and gaps of time due to the outstanding practical effects and sheer gross out moments. Sit back and enjoy the ooze.

Melancholia der Engel (2009)

AKA: The Angel's Melancholia

Starring: Zenzig Raggi, Frank Oliver
Director: Marian Dora

Premise:
A group of people gather in a country house where they precede to bring out the worst characters in each other

My Take:
German art house horror is the term that comes to mind. The running time for the movie is too long. There is some ghastly imagery throughout combined with a chopped up narrative but it's not enough to save it for me.

Lust of the Dead (2012)

AKA: Rape Zombie: Lust of the Dead

Starring: Rina Aikawa, Yui Aikawa, Asami
Director: Naoyuki Tomomatsu

Premise:
An infection causes men to become sex crazed zombies and attack women.

My Take:
One knows what you to expect with a a title Rape Zombie. It's an over the top flick in every way. I'd like to say there's a message to the film but I think the makers were just going for ample amount of nudity and vicera and shock value. They did something right as it as spawned two more in the series.

Id (2005)

Starring: Eji Hayashi, Kei Fujiwara
Director: Kei Fujiwara

Premise:
A murderer is forced to deal with the thoughts in is head while dealing with the realities surrounding him.

My Take:
This is a hard movie to watch. There is a lot of crazy, realistic violence and gore. It requires the viewer to focus on what is happening  and try and decipher the story. Unfortunately the rewards are little... at least for me.

Naked Blood (1996)

Friday, October 24, 2014

Septic Man (2014)

Starring: Jason David Brown, Robert Maillet, Stephen McHattie, Julian Richings
Director: Jesse Thomas Cook

Premise:
A town has a contaminated water supply which evacuates its residents. A sewage worker is offered a large sum of money to help figure out what is work. While exploring the sewage systems he runs into a pair of brothers who are responsible for local murders and gets trapped in the tainted water.

My Take:
While the over all story isn't fully fleshed out, the strength of the movie is in the strong characters and great effects and disgusting situations. Sewage just isn't a clean subject.

Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead (2012)

AKA: Zonbi Ansu

Director: Noboru Iguchi

Premise:
A group of friends come across zombies in a remote forest. They find out the zombies are caused by a parasite and being monitored by a crazy scientist.

My Take:
I am a huge fan of the director and his strange, over the top splatter flicks. And this one is way out there. One sort of knows what to expect by the title, but then it goes so much more over board. Defintiely a one of a kind movie but it's not for everyone.

Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) [2011]

Starring: Laurence R. Harvey, Ashlynn Yennie
Director: Tom Sixx

Premise:
An abused man obsessed with the movie "The Human Centipede" decides to kidnap people and make his own centipede.

My Take:

While I enjoyed this movie slightly more than the original, I cant recommend for everyone. The final third of the movie gets extremely disgusting. It's definitely a unique movie.
The villain is generally strange looking and acts the same, yet because of the abuse he received as a child and through out adulthood there is some sympathy towards him. It's a great horror movie character.
Good call filming in black and white. The cinematography is well done and looks fantastic.

Rating: In the middle
