Premise:
A young man gets put into a mental institution due to his family being unfit. The kid and a few others escape and get chased down by the sadistic sheriff.

My Take:
Did we really need a Leatherface origin story. Especially one so cut and dry - kid from a bad home has traumatizing experience that turns him into a killer. There's nothing too special here and the movie is played far more as police chase movie.

Premise:
A group of people from the city get lost in the country and are kidnapped by a family.

My Take:
The story is simple with people being out of their element, captured, and tortured. Also there is no shortage of stupid people doing stupid things to not help their situation. The subplot about why the family is doing it is rather hard to figure out (or maybe just lost in translation).

Premise:
A group of people are whale watching off the coast of Iceland when an accident occurs and the captain dies. They are rescued by another vessel which is actually ran by a family of lunatics

My Take:
The movie is basically a homage to Texas Chainsaw Massacre expect with Icelandic fisherman and a boat. It works and hits all the right notes.

Premise:
Five carnival workers are kidnapped to a place called "Murderworld" and forced to play a game called "31" where they have to survive against a group of homicidal maniacs.

My Take:
Pure nihilism is the best way I can describe it. The movie is filled with the typical Zombie sadism and gore and over the top characters thrown in with a familiar story. A lot of the movie looks cool but there is little substance for the viewer to care about.

Premise:

My Take:
A pleasant surprise while watching. The cast never takes itself too seriously and seems to add to the enjoyment and over the top demeanor of the film.

Premise:
Alone for the weekend, a married man tries to help two young girls in trouble.  They end up having sex. The next morning wont leave his house and have games in store for the man.

My Take:
I really didn't really like the film but could help but continue watching it.The whole movie is about a nice guy making a bad decision and paying the ultimate cost. Maybe you aren't suppose to enjoy but rather just take it all in. Though I would probably be giving Eli Roth way too much credit then as I highly doubt if that was his intent.

Premise:
A group sets out to find the scariest haunted house attractions in America. While they document their findings they soon realize maybe the scares are seeking them out.

My Take:
It's a unique story full of scares. The found footage style works best when it working as an actual documentary interviewing workers of these attractions and patrons otherwise it falls into the usual trappings which hurt a bit. Still, it's a flick worth watching.

My Take:
The movie has a few interesting moments but overall it's just a bunch of annoying teens getting killed by an annoying people.

Premise:
A woman is still depressed months after being left at the alter. She finally decides to get back on the dating scene and asks a man over to her house. Except this turns into the night her home gets attacked by vampires

My Take:
Dont let the silly title keep you away from this slick movie. It's mostly a funny, sort of romantic comedy which turns into a home siege movie in the final act with kids who think they are vampires. But it is also very clever with it's dialog.

Septic Man (2014)

Premise:
A town has a contaminated water supply which evacuates its residents. A sewage worker is offered a large sum of money to help figure out what is work. While exploring the sewage systems he runs into a pair of brothers who are responsible for local murders and gets trapped in the tainted water.

My Take:
While the over all story isn't fully fleshed out, the strength of the movie is in the strong characters and great effects and disgusting situations. Sewage just isn't a clean subject.

My Take:
Wow, this is a stinker. Three young kids start a murderous spree because they were born with no consciences (blame the solar eclipse). Apparently these 10 year old kids are smarter than every other person in the movie.

My Take:
Not terrible but doesn't bring much new to the subgenre. The strength here lies in there the quad of weirdos who cannot seperate fantasy from reality due to LSD treatments.
