Premise:
A weird teenager girl wants to be friends with a group popular kids. She gets a vicious prank pulled on her by them. The action causes each of the tormentors to die on their 18th birthday.

My Take:
A movie with decent scares, suspense, and supernatural reasoning. It has some faults, like zero adults throughout the movie, but overall enjoyable.

My Take:
A slow moving flick that really doesn't get too interesting until the final act.

Premise:
A mother tries to rekindle with the teenage daughter she gave up years ago. It seems the young girl has been marked by an evil force.

My Take:
The mystery in the flick is decent. The mother is really unlikable despite her "efforts" to get to know her estranged daughter until the end.

Rings (2017)

Premise:
A young girl falls into a curse that is said to kill her in seven days. Now her and the boyfriend must find a way to stop the curse and the real reason behind the urban legend.

My Take:
This sequel to the American remake catapults the tale into the modern area of technology. I enjoyed how it flushes out more of the backstory but it also misses on a bunch of other things for me.

Kaidan (2007)

Premise:
A money lender is killed by samurai and dumped in a river. Years later, the son of the samurai falls in love with the daughter of the lender. However, the spirit of the dead is not far away.

My Take:
The movie has many different genres thrown in mix. Part modern ghost/supernatural tale and part ancient samurai movie with a decent dose of drama mixed in. The whole things works as far as it meshes well together yet, for reason it could not keep my full attention.

Premise:
A writer visits her friend in Vietnam to try and come up with an idea for her next novel. She becomes engrossed with an old legend about a vengeful spirit and soon begins to think the spirit is after her.

My Take:
An atomospheric and moody movie with good practical effects. The story is rather average and familiar if one has seen a lot of Asian horror, but at least it is executed by the cast and director with style making the flick better than it probably should be.

Manhattan Baby (1984)

Premise:
An archaelogist unknowingly unleases an evil Egyptian spirit which possesses his daughter and goes on a killing spree.

My Take:
A terrible title that really has nothing to do with what the movie is about and honestly this is not one of Fulci's best. It's rather boring and fairly tame considering some of the director's efforts. And the child actors are just annoying.

Mama (2013)

Premise:
Two young girls are found in the woods five years after their father killed their mother and took them their. The girls say that "Mama" kept them safe while there. The girls go to live with their uncle and his girlfriend trying to adjust to their new life but "Mama" keeps making appearances.

My Take:
There's a lot to like with the movie as it's not really a typical vengenful ghost story. It's skillfully directed with a lot happening in the background and looks amazing. Plus the kid actors are great as they are transformed from wild creature like state back to some what normal. It's even a little heartbreaking at the end.

Rating: So Good

Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009)

Premise:
A model gets possessed by an angry spirit and she must find out why.

My Take:
A watchable movie that does run a too long due to the song and dance routines found in many Indian films. The script is rather cliched and not the least bit scary. The actors do a fine job and the colors are amazing, also typical of an Indian film.

Raaz (2002)

Premise:
The spirit of a man's mistress wants revenge and seeks it by trying to destroy his wife

My Take:
The movie has some decent twists and an interesting story. But for a lot of people who aren't familiar with a Bollywood film it will be hard to get through due to the 2.5 hour run time, numerous musical number, and the loads of melodrama. If one goes into it knowing those details and not expecting scares then one might enjoy watching it.

My Take:
A nice, twist ending (well sort of) just isn't enough to make the movie worth wild. 
It's a bad take to try and capitalize on Poltergeist success of the time.

Phoonk 2 (2010)

Synopsis:
The movie picks up where the events of the first one left off. Rajiv takes his family on vacation out of the city to a rural area. They find a mysterious statue on the property they are staying at. Soon a strange doll is found which comes to life. Then Rajiv's wife gets possessed by the ghost of Madhu.

My Take:
Maybe its just that creepy dolls have always freaked me out a bit. I enjoyed this one. The premise is nothing new but gets a fresh look as seen through Hindu eyes.
