Premise:

This short mini season picks up right were the old series and movies left off. Mulder is closer than ever to figuring out a what the secret society is about to unleash on the world. The ending is wide open to continue the story in one form or another. I am hope for another mini season in near future.

Favorite Episode:"Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster"
This is the tongue in cheek, stand alone episode the show would throw in a couple of times a season. Overtly comic situations are all over this one yet it manages to still ties in with what the season's arc.

Monsters & Mysteries in America, Season 1 (2013)

Premise:
A show that documents eye witness accounts (and recreates those accounts) about mysterious creatures and situations in the United States.

My Take:
While it's fairly standard of format for this type of show what makes it stand out is the depth of the cryptids talked about by the people interviewed. Sure there are a the big ones like Bigfoot, UFO's, and Jersey Devil but also very obscured ones like haunted sections of road - The Devil's Highway, Sheepsquatch, black eyed kids, and nightstalkers. It's enough to keep me curious.

Favorite Episode:
"Bayou" - This episode touches on vampires in New Orleans, the shape shifting Rougarou, and bigfoot like Honey Island Swamp Monster.

Night of the Blood Beast (1958)

Starring: John Baer, Ed Nelson, Angela Greene
Director: Bernard L. Kowalski

Premise:
An astronaught dies on re-entry to Earth and has alien embryos attached to his insides.

My Take:
Defintely a cheap, older drive in movie from the Roger Corman factory that's bad enough to warrant "cult" status amoung some. This is not very good film with a lot of talking and not much action... or common sense.

Premise:
After strange occurrences begin happening to family members, the mother begins to suspect aliens have targeted them.

My Take:
The movie does a great job at building up suspense and creating turmoil with in the family as the try to sort out what is happening to them. Sure, it goes down familiar territory and the ending isn't a big shocker, but it's done well with solid direction and acting.

51 (2011)

Starring: Rachel Miner, Bruce Boxlietner, Jason London
Director: Jason Connery

Synopsis:
The military has decided to let a handful of journalists into the Area 51 Military Base to show the government is not hiding any secrets for the public. Naturally, they are and of course, things go awry when the aliens get loose.

Mildly entertaining...to laugh at. This After Dark release is pretty bland and predictable. Decent aliens and a little gore are about the only positives.

Torchwood, Season 2 (2008)

Torchwood: The Complete Second Season [Blu-ray]

Starring: John Barrowman, Eve Myles

Synopsis:
The season opens up with the return of Captain Jack Harkness from his mysterious disappearance. He finds the Torchwood team in tact and carrying on their duties. They quickly get over their anger and continue to fight aliens and supernatural beings. This season also delves a little deeper into the nature of The Rift and many of Jack's secrets including his long lost brother, which has ramification for the entire Torchwood team.

My Take:
Torchwood turned it up a notch in its second season. The last two episodes, "Fragments" and "Exit Wounds" are as brilliant as television gets. The season goes to dark places of human emotion and nearly ever episode is better than the previous, which provides for several stand out episodes.

Favorite Episode:
"From Out of the Rain" - In this episode a group of traveling carnival people escape their celluloid prison. The purpose is to steal people's last breath so the traveling show can be remembered forever.

My Take: So Good
