Hyde's Secret Nightmare (2011)

Starring: Claudio Zanelli, Roberta Gemma
Director: Domiziano Cristopharo

Premise:
An impotent scientist tries to find a cure for his condition by experimenting on dead body's. Successful, he tests it out on himself with unexpected results.

My Take:
Somewhere between the graphic, hardcore sex scenes there is a Jekyll and Hyde type story with a twist. The movie felt way to long for what was happening.  The end result feels like an odd mix of horror and porn, with the makers not knowing which way they really want to take the story.

Rating: Warning

Watched: DVD Purchase

The Beast (1975)

AKA: La Bete

Starring: Lisbeth Hummel, Guy Tréjan
Director: Walerian Borowczyk

Premise:
Two wealthy families arrange a marriage between their son and daughter. The daughter arrives at the estate, which has a legend surrounding it about a roaming beast, to meet the family.

My Take:
This film threw me off a bit. I simply was not expecting to see many of things put in this movie and it's rather hard to shock me. There is a lot of werewolf on human sex complete with phallus and multiple ejaculations. Granted it's all special effects and done in a dream type sequence, but it's really strange. It's very easy to see why the movie has been banned for so long in numerous countries, but it's also the reason film connisuers might want to watch it.

Rating: Warning

The Nightcomers (1972)

Starring: Marlon Brando, Stephanie Beacham
Director: Michael Winner

Premise:
A nanny and a caretaker for two wealthy children are having an affair and fail to notice the children's disturbing change of attitude.

My Take:
The movie is a prequel to the Henry James story "A Turn of the Screw". The kid's mimic the adult actions, take what they say literally, and devise a plan to keep their two mentors together forever.
Great performances from the two leads in this offbeat and twisted tale. I found the children actors to be incredibly annoying though.

Sex and Zen II (1996)

Starring: Qi Shu
Director: Man Kei Chin

Premise:
A strict father, who is determined to become a master at the art of sex, sends his daughter away after putting a chastity belt on her. Along comes a demon disguised as a beautiful woman and weds the father. His daughter will not stand for it, nor will the man tracking the demon.

My Take:
I have a confession to make. I only watched this movie because I am somewhat smitten with the lovely Qi Shu.
The movie is basically a skin flick with some comedy and a dab of horror. There is lots of nudity (and way too long sex scenes), crazy sword play, and the bizarre conclusion to it all. I will also admit that I was slightly amused with film.
The movie isn't for everyone but if the above items are your fancy, then seek out the movie.

American Horror Story, Season 1 (2011)

Starring: Connie Britton, Dylan McDermit, Jessica Lange

Premise:
To try and save their marriage a couple from Boston moves their family to an old mansion in L.A. that holds a number of secrets and a deadly past.

My Take:
Yeah, there's problems with the show. The plot holes, way too many ghosts with history in this house, and the editing can make each episode a bit disorienting. But for me, it didn't matter as it added to the craziness of the show. Each episode builds a little bit more. And the cast is fantastic.
The season finale floored me. Not what I expected. Then a few days later I read the next season will be an all new cast and location.

Favorite Episode:
My initial reaction was "Birth" because so much shit is finally revealed. But I think the two part Halloween episodes, titled appropriately "Halloween part 1 and part 2", were my favorite.

The Nude Vampire (1970)

Director: Jean Rollin

Premise:
A man discovers a secret society which deals in sexual perversion and vampires.

My Take:
One of the more straight forward tales by the master of horror erotica still deals much more with the stylish aspect of film than the story. The director's trademark long shots of basically nothing but nude females tend to a tad get boring.

Rating: Warning (unless your a fan of the director)

The Blood Splattered Bride (1972)

Director: Vicente Aranda

Synopsis:
A new bride is forced to deal with the acting out of her husband's sexual fantasies. Soon she finds a terrible family secret and is comforted by the strange woman that was found on the beach and has a secret of her own.

My Take:
You'll find some blood, some boobs, and some style wrapped in a decent story even if it doesn't make a lot of sense at times.
Another film based on the Le Fanu classic story "Camilla".
A definite Euro 70's vibe. I normally enjoy those kind of flicks. If you do, then check this one out.
