Venom (1981)

Premise:
A kid accidentally picks up a black mamba snake at the pet shop instead of his harmless, jungle snake. This coincide with a planned kidnapping from his caretakers. Naturally the black mamba gets loose and all are in jeopardy.

My Take:
The story is rather average but sure is fun watching Oliver Reed, Klaus Kinski, and Sterling Hayden chew up the scenes with the wackiness surrounding them.

The movie is essentially a two man play hinges a lot on the performances of the two characters. Sometimes the dialog and actions feel forced but it does leave you hoping they make it out of the situation.

This one is bad all around. The over acting gets annoying and the shock value soon wears off.

Walking Dead: Life and Death [volume 24]

Premise:
Old foes show off old habits and the new threat of Whisperers proves to be real.

My Take:
The first part of this issue deals with more ground work and catching up - such as Gregory still holding a grudge against Maggie and Neagan trying to find a way out of his cell. The second part has a long interaction between Rick and the Whisperers leader that leads to a gut punch of a ending.

Legion, Season 2 (2018)

Starring: Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Bill Irwin, Jean Smart, Jermaine Clement, Jeremie Harris, Katie Ashleton, Amber Midthunder, Navid Negahban, Hamish Linklater

Premise:
Season Two has David and the other mutants teaming with Division in order to stop the true threat to humanity The Shadow King as he searches for his new body.

My Take:
If you thought season one was a mind wrap then season two will blow your skull out. It has alternate timelines, trips to the astroplanes, views inside people's mind, augmented reality, and it's own reality. With all this weirdness and misdirection the show manages to keep it's basic story on track and not too confusing for the viewer.

Premise:
A boxer finally gets his shot at a big fight. He fails and is fired by his manager. The results lead him into a state of pure evil.
