Premise:
Season Three has Stan and Evie still fighting the curse left behind by the coven of witches. It all leads up to a big decision Stan has to make with an even more evil entity.

My Take:
After three fun filled seasons, it seems the series has wrapped up the original story. However it leaves the viewer hanging the edge with a promise of an entire new direction. There should be more fun to follow in the next season.

Dawn of the Crescent Moon (2015)

Premise:
A group of college students doing a research for an assignment must find out the origins of a local legend.

My Take:
What starts out as a decent story gets very convoluted with a multiple layered legend. A little more straightforward and little shorter running time would have helped the movie be better.

Stan Against Evil, Season 1 (2016)

Premise:
A former sheriff finds out his wife was battling demons and witches on their cursed New Hampshire town. The new sheriff enlists his help to continue the fight.

My Take:
A fun series with a great cast (though McGinley is perfect is damn near everything he is in). It never takes the content too seriously and has a decent amount of gore. I'm very happy season two has been ordered.

Game of Werewolves (2012)

Premise:
A man returns to his family village to accept an award. What he doesn't know is the whole town are werewolves due to a curse by the man's family. The town is now looking to reverse the curse.

My Take:
An entertaining movie that has just the right amount of absurdity and humor. The special effects are a tad laughable at times though.

Premise:
A group of college kids mocks a possessed urn and create a curse which turns people into zombie demons.

My Take:
The absurd premise goes over the top and plays each moment up for laughs. While some hit and others miss badly, the approach does make the flick an enjoyable way to burn 90 minutes out of your day.

The Black Room (1935)

Premise:
A twin murders and impersonates his brother igniting an old family curse.

My Take:
It's nice see Karloff not all made up but still in a rather notorious role. He is simply awesome here playing two completely different twins. The movie still holds a decent punch dispite the age.

Airborne (2013)

Premise:
A flight from London to New York goes off course as passnegers start to disappear. Soon they discover an ancient evil is the reason.

My Take:
This movie ended up being better than I anticipated. There's a lot set up and side stories before the final act reveals what is really happening. There is lots of talking but it managed to keep me interested.

Warehouse 13, Season 4 part 1 (2012)

Starring: Joanne Kelly, Eddie McClintock, Sal Rubinek, Allison Scagliotti, Aaron Ashmore


Synopsis:
A group of secret agents find cursed artifacts from history before damage is done onto the world.

The first pat of season 4 sees Arnie reversing the damage caused by Pandora's Box with an even more dangerous artificat. He tries to keep this secret from the other agents while chaos keeps onse step ahead of the team.

My Take:
I always thought this was a fun show that hits the perfect balance of drama, action, comedy, mystery, and at times fright. And the cast is terrific. Too bad SyFy Channel feels the need to break it up into two parts with months between each (like they do with many shows). This season banked a little more of a fear factory and the reprecussions of ones actions than previous ones. And it does so with fantastic results. 

Favorite Episode:
"We All Fall Down" - The midseason finale was a whopper It ties almost everything up from the previous episodes while laying out the main story for the second half of the season.

The Witch's Mirror (1962)

AKA: El Espejo de la Bruja

Premise:
A husband murders his wife. The house keeper suspects foul play uses black magic to summon the wife's ghost from the grave so she can seek revenge.

My Take:
A rather stylish oldie from Mexico with combines a lot of genre elements with ease. The wife is murder and is resurrected with magic and communication with spirits. A little haunting goes on. Then the husband's new wife gets mysteriously burned. He gives her transplant surgery with new hands, belonging to the deceased wife, which start taking over. It's simply good, old fashion fun.

Paranorman (2012)

Premise:
A young kid, who is an outcast in school because he can speak to ghosts, takes it upon himself to save the town from a centuries old witches' curse.

My Take:
A very entertaining movie for the entire family. It's got a lot of charm, plenty of laughs, and great message for kids. The animation is top notch as well.

Bag of Bones (2011)

Premise:
After his wife dies, a writer spends some time at their lake house. While there he discovers he can communicate with his dead wife...and another spirit who curse a group of town folk long ago and is still seeking revenge.

My Take:
Not anywhere close to being as good as the source material, but then again it rarely ever is a movie based on Stephen King's work.
This was a miniseries that moved very slow until final thirty minutes. Brosnan was fantastic though and helped keep the story moving.

Sumpa (2009)

Premise:
After breaking up with his girlfriend, a man takes a vacation at a resort. There he meets a woman who is wrapped up in a curse.

My Take:
The movie good have been trimmed by 30 minutes and it would've been much more effective. Instead you must sit through long, meaningless scenes that do nothing but frustrate. Too bad, it's a decent ghost story even if it's a bit muddled.
