Attack Girl's Swim Team vs The Undead (2008)

AKA: Undead Pool or Joshikyoei Hanrangun

Starring: Sasa Handa, Yuria Hidaka, Ayumu Tokito
Director: Koji Kawano

Premise:
A virus is turning people in the school into mutated zombies. The new girl, with a mysterious past, leads those not infected.

My Take:
I usually dig these over the top splatter fest flicks from Japan but this one never really hooked me. It seemed more interested in being soft core nudie flick through most of the second half. Tighter editing may have made it more enjoyable.

Rating: Warning

Holy balls!!! This is the edgy Wolverine character fans have wanted for years. So much carnage in this gritty flick that keeps the viewer on a wild ride.

The 8th Plague (2006)

Starring: Leslie Anne Valenza, DJ Perry, Hollis McLachlan
Director: Franklin Guerrero Jr

Premise:
A woman searches for her missing sister in a rural mountain town. They find abandoned prison where an evil source has unleashed a plague turning people into zombie like mutants.

My Take:
There's nothing much to see here. The story is vague while the acting and gore are passable at best.

Legion, Season 1 (2017)

Starring: Dan Stevens, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Mackenzie Gray, Kate Aselton, Bill Irwin, Rachel Keller, Jermaine Clement

Premise:
A man who is diagnosed as schizophrenic may end up being one of the most powerful mutants the world has ever seen. There is a group of mutants who want to help him control this power and group of military people who want to destroy him.

My Take:
A trippy and almost anti-super hero series that is tied into the X-Men universe. Because the narrator is unreliable and messed up in the head, the viewer questions each scene and each character. It's one hellacious nightmare and an extremely fun show to watch.

Rating: So Good

Helix, Season 1 (2014)

Starring: Billy Campbell, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jordan Hayes, Kyra Zagorsky, Neil Napier, Mark Ghanime, Meegun Fairbrother, Luciana Carro

Premise:
A group of CDC scientist are flown into a base located in the Artic to find a cure for a virus outbreak that is mutating it's carriers. Soon the teams finds out there is much more going on at the facility.

My Take:
I thought the series started out strong but got a bit too convoluted and wacky as it went along. There were some answers needed instead of layers on layers of questions. It made for a lot of what the heck is happening here. So far, it's held my interest enough to keep watching season two next year.

Rating: In the middle

Descendants (2008)

AKA: Solos

Director: Jorge Olguin

Premise:
A young girl searches for her mother in a world where a virus has wiped out the population and turned many to zombies.

My Take:
The movie looks good but it kills itself with constant voice over from the main character. which is a twelve year old. Plus the ending doesn't make much sense nor is a reason why it happens.
