Hereditary (2018)

Starring: Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro
Director: Aru Aster

Premise:
After her mother passes away; a woman's family starts to experience a series of strange and tragic events.

My Take:
The movie is full of constant misdirection and pulls the viewer different ways before revealing its true purpose. To give away any more would be a great injustice to the movie.

Venture Bros, Season 7 (2018)

Starring: Christopher McCulloch, James Urbaniak, Doc Hammer, Michael Sinterniklaas, Patrick Warburton,

Premise:
Season 7 has the Hank and Dean entering young adulthood and experience more of the trials and tribulations that go along with it. Rusty creates a teleportation device that despite being his greatest achievement has grave consequences. And the Monarch continues to work his way back to be a top level villain.

My Take:
The series remains one of my favorites for it's blend between originality and constant homage. Plus it's created a rich mythology all its own. This is full of it's trademark humor and over the top plots with a more than enough big reveal moments sprinkled in.

If only Clive Barker and Ashley Laurence would have been interviewed for the movie it would feel complete. It's still a cool look at behind scenes.

The ghosts of three girls who were killed by their mother pick a random person to watch over for three days and decide if they should live or die.

Killer Condom (1996)

Starring: Peter Lohmeyer
Director: Matin Walz

Premise:
A sleazy hotel has defected condoms that kill people

My Take:
The movie doesn't take itself seriously and that's about the only saving grace. It's a classic Troma flick that some will love and others will despise.

Hellraiser: Judgment (2018)

Starring: Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris
Director: Gary J. Tunnicliffe

Premise:
Three detectives are trying to solve a series of horrific murders. What they start to dig up may not be of this world.

My Take:
Really all this has to the with the Hellraiser series is a group of Cenobites act as judge and jury for people. If you are looking for a lot of Pinhead, you wont find it (and he has a rather emo brooding to him). While the film has a nice look and truly gross scenes, overall the story is sort of a mess.

Leatherface (2017)

Starring: Lili Taylor, Stephen Doriff, Sam Strike, Vanessa Grasse, Finn Jones, Sam Coleman, Jessican Madsen, James Bloor
Director: Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury

Premise:
A young man gets put into a mental institution due to his family being unfit. The kid and a few others escape and get chased down by the sadistic sheriff.

My Take:
Did we really need a Leatherface origin story. Especially one so cut and dry - kid from a bad home has traumatizing experience that turns him into a killer. There's nothing too special here and the movie is played far more as police chase movie.

Starring: Barry Corbin, Brooke Coleman, Kurt Cole, Edward Hong, Laura Leal, Shiree Nelson, Johnny Walter
Director: Kirk Louden

Premise:
A group of college students doing a research for an assignment must find out the origins of a local legend.

My Take:
What starts out as a decent story gets very convoluted with a multiple layered legend. A little more straightforward and little shorter running time would have helped the movie be better.
