My Take:
While the origin of the zombie outbreak and the special effects are both decent, most the characters and comedy misses.

Cell (2016)

Premise:
A mysterious occurrence turns people who was using their cell phones at the time it happened into zombie like creatures. A man tries to get north to see if his family is still alive.

My Take:
The characters feel like they are just going through the motions and a big chunk of information in the story is missing. I never read the Stephen King novel but it's certainly far more in depth.

Premise:
A clown is accidentally killed during a kid's birthday party. Years later he comes back from the dead for revenge on the those kids who were at the party.

My Take:
A rather humorous but standard slasher flick.

Halley (2013)

Premise:
A man who works as a night guard in a 24 hour gym forms a friendship with is female manager. The one issue is the man is also dead.

My Take:
A movie not for all horror fans as it leans heavily on dramatic situations. The man is a functioning zombie for all purposes (though the z word is never used) and he treats it as a condition of surviving.

Premise:
A man's tries to overcome his grief from his girlfriend dying. He begins to fall for a co-worker. All seems to be going fine until his old girlfriend revives from the dead while the two are having sex.

My Take:
A unique take on mourning the loss of a person and moving on.

The Cemetery (2013)

Premise:
A production crews goes to a rural cemetery that was a site of an mass exorcism in the 1600's. While onsite the crew awakens the curse.

My Take:
The movie has some short comings but isn't terrible. The special effects are good and so is the story about the cemetery. Unfortunately, the viewer doesn't really care for the characters or their outcomes.

My Take:
While the movie has interesting take on the undead rising it gets kind of annoying that the movie is shot through "eye glasses with a camera". Sometimes it works but often it doesn't.

He Never Died (2015)

Premise:
A man who's origins go back to the beginning of the Bible tries to survive through the years by a strict regiment and code. His estranged daughter suddenly shows up one day in need of help. But assisting her will put his ways in jeopardy.

My Take:
This seems to be a part for carved out for Henry Rollins to play. He is simply fantastic in it really just portraying a version of himself. The story unfolds nicely and has a good explanations to what is happening. And when all hell breaks loose then just watch out because the blood flies.

Premise:
A plane crash lands on an island and it's full of people who have turned into zombie like creatures due to radiation.

My Take:
I was highly disappointed with the movie. It's not all too gory nor is the story very interesting. The zombies are more "infected" people due to radiation. The move fast and think which was different for the time it was released.

Premise:
A movie crew filming in a mansion where seven murders were committed unleashes a curse to allow the dead to return.

My Take:
Here is the lesson folks, if you ever come across the Tibetan Book of the Dead don't read passages from it aloud. There really is no good reason this flick kept me as interested as it did.

The Guard Post (2008)

Premise:
An investigative team is sent to a guard post, which over looks the DMZ, when the entire squad is murdered. Upon arrival the find one survivor

My Take:
A solid story where things are never what it seems to be. It keeps the viewer guessing with alternating between current time and flashback to the murders. And throws a bunch of different horror elements in the mix. What seems on the surface seems to be a slasher ends up being a mystery with many supernatural elements. It's very stylish and fairly gory too. Dont expect any long hair ghosts in this flick.

Premise:

My Take:
A unique blend of genres thrown in with a a bunch of songs. It's a throwback to era of films it is set during. Not for every person's taste but there was enough to keep me watching.

Bone Sickness (2004)

Premise:
A woman is caring for his terminally ill husband. The man's best friend stumble upon a way to help cure him by a potion made from bones of the dead. The potion has side effects and leads to a unimaginable conclusion.

My Take:
The story goes from one of simple means to a massive apocalyptic tale in the final act. It was a way too ambition for it's low budget. The acting isn't great, the movie needs trimmed down, and the story doesn't explain much of anything. Still the solid make up and practical effects can keep you entertained.

All Cheerleaders Die (2014)

Premise:
After her friend dies in a cheerleading accident, a girl joins the squad to find out what happens. But things turns strange when a horrible accident kills the squad. The girl's wiccan lover uses her powers to revive the girls and get revenge on the football players who caused the accident.

My Take:
This is a crazy movie and rather hard to explain why things are happening it on. There is gore and and tension and some humorous scenes. However it didn't click with me.

R.I.P.D. (2013)

Premise:
A cop is murdered by his partner after they steal gold during a bust. In the afterlife he is recruited to Rest In Peace Department which specializes in protecting the world from the undead. He is paired with a new partner and insists on solving his own murder case, which turns out to be part of huge plot to unleash the dead on Earth.

My Take:
Good stars (with Jeff Bridges doing his Rooster Cogburn impersonation again) and solid special effects but the movie feels like it just missed on something. Not sure what the something is though... maybe a little more character depth and details to the plot. The movie could be worse.
