Proud to admit that I am a horror junkie. However, my definition of what falls under the realm of horror entertainment is fairly wide. Horror is an emotion experienced differently by individuals. These are short reviews of the movies, television series, novels, comics, albums, and any thing else which crosses my path if I feel like falls into the wide world of horror entertainment.

Donovan's Echo (2012)
Starring: Danny Glover, Bruce Greenwood
Director: Jim Cliffe
Premise:
A man starts experiencing deja vu from events that occurred thirty years earlier and must figure out how it ties to the present day.
My Take:
The movie has solid acting and a solid story but it's probably one you'll forget shortly afterwards

Bastard (2015)
Starring: Rebekah Kennedy, Ellis Greer, Will Tranfo
Director: Powell Robinson, Patrick Robert Young
Premise:
A serial killer couple, two runaways, and a suicidal police offer all end up in a mountain town where a masked killer is taking out victims.
My Take:
An interesting and uneven film that seems like it misses out on a chance to be really memorable. The oddball characters are the pulse of the movie. Too often though nothing is done with them.

Wolf Creek, Season 1 (2016)
Starring: John Jarrett, Lucy Fry, Dustin Clare
Premise:
After her family is slain while on vacation in the Australian Outback the surviving family member hunts down the man responsible.
My Take:
Capturing even more grittiness then the film it's based on, this series manages to continue the story of the notorious serial killer Mick Taylor and tell a new story centering around a survivor of one of his attacks. The desolation of the terrain is captured beautifully and becomes a character itself. This short series is a highly entertaining way to continue this saga.

Kids Go into the Woods... Kids Get Dead (2012)
Starring: Leah Rudick, Andrew Waffenschmidt,
Director: Michael Hall
Premise:
A group of friends head up to an uncle's house near the woods only to be hunted down by a crazed killer.
My Take:
The movie is set up like a show with a host presenting the movie and taking breaks. It's dumb, not funny, and not needed. Then you have the actions in the movie playing out like a book the main character is reading. Except he spends two days reading it before realizing what is occurring. It's simply sad.

Landmine Goes Click (2015)
Starring: Sterling Knight, Kote Tolordava, Spencer Locke
Director: Levan Bakhia
Premise:
Three finds go camping in European Georgia. One of them steps on a landmine. A local man stumbles upon them, only to torture instead of help.
My Take:
There's actually a lot more story here than the synopsis. While there is physical torture; there is far more psychological torture going one. The movie relies heavily on the situation and the actors; and both succeed.

Starring: Susan George, Edward Albert, Doug McClure
Director: Kevin Connor
Premise:
A family moves into a house in Japan that happens to be inhabited by ancient ghosts. Soon they are constantly reliving the horrors of the house

This flick comes off like a bad made for television movie. It didn't hold much interest.

American Horror Story: Roanoke [Season 6] (2016)
Starring: Sara Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr, Lily Rabe, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Lady Gaga, Wes Bentley, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Adina Porter, Andre Roberts
Premise:
A couple buy a house in rural North Carolina only to find out it is haunted by the first settlers that came there and cursed to all.
My Take:
The season is broken down into two connected parts. The first part with the tale as a docudrama television show is far more appealing than the bat shit craziness in the second half of the series when the producers decide to make a "Big Brother" type sequel in the house and throw way too much at the viewers. It becomes horror cliches after cliche, which tends to be the norm for the series.

The Stakelander (2016)
AKA: Stake Land 2
Starring: Conor Paola, Nick Damici
Director: Dan Berk, Robert Olsen
Premise:
After vampires kill his family, a man searches for his the man who saved him as a child to help get revenge.
My Take:
This sequel to Stake Land, picks up a few years later with the same characters. While it remains entertaining it's missing the spark which made the first one so great.

AKA: Rape Zombie 3
Starring: Yui Aikawa, Asami
Director: Naoyuki Tomomatsu
Premise:
The continuing saga of survivors battling a disease that turns males into sex crazed zombies.
My Take:
It took to number three in the series for me to start getting turned off in the series. Nothing really new occurs and little is added to the story in this one.

Monsters and Mysteries Unsolved, Season 1 (2016)
Premise:
Investigations on the paranormal, supernatural, and world of cryptids.
My Take:
With episodes focusing on animal apocalypse, Bermuda Triangles, hauntings, life after death, and more there is a decent amount of interesting episodes. Though there are done with the usual style of Destination America shows, so it's not top quality.
Rating: In the middle

Dracula: The Dark Prince (2013)
Starring: Luke Roberts, Jon Voight, Kelly Wenham
Director: Perry Reginald Teo
Premise:
Dracula falls in love with a Crusader who resembles his murdered bride.
My Take:
There is a lot of stupid things in this movie that takes great liberty with the Dracula myth, lore, and facts about Vlad the Impaler. It's simply not good.

Murder In the Dark (2013)
Starring: Luke Arnold, Phil Austin, Samrat Chakrabarti, Mary Kate Wiles
Director: Dagen Merrill
Premise:
A group of students camp in a Turkish ruin. They play a game called "Murder In the Dark", only to find out that one of them is making the game real.
My Take:
Much of the movie was improvised as the actors made choices to what was happening during the movie. It's an interesting concept but also makes for a lot of unevenness throughout and not much that is all that compelling.

Director: Marcus Koch
Premise:
Two journalist are investigating a serial killer called "The Teardrop Killer" who has been on a twenty year spree. They end tracing clues to an abandoned circus where the killer and his daughter hides.
My Take:
There's a parallel story line with how the killer got started and the journalists tracking him down years later. The acting is (mostly) superb but the movie makes up for with loads of gore.

Expedition Unknown: Hunt for the Yeti (2016)
Starring: Josh Gates
Premise:
Josh Gates takes off to the Himalayas in hopes find proof of the legendary yeti.
My Take:
This mini series focus on the myth of the yeti, the folklore surrounding yeti, and finding clues to it's existence. While he does manage to get some interesting evidence and access to artifacts that many have never seen before, there remains a lot coincidental moments that feel staged. Still it makes for an interesting investigation and it doesn't feel nearly as rushed as most one of episodes of the series.
