Premise:
The third volume continues the tale of Skinner Sweet and Pearl. During WWII Henry, Pearl's husband, signs up to lead a secret mission to a small island outside of Japan to destroy a new breed of vampires.

My Take:
This volume continues the backstory of Skinner while advancing it forward in the years. It is another fun volume to read.

The Great Wall (2016)

Premise:
Mercenaries get captured by an army guarding the Great Wall of China and learn that it was built to keep an army of creatures from making it to the province capitol.

My Take:
It is a visually stunning movie with some great action sequences, but there really isn't much substance to the movie.

My Take:
It's a fun and light take on Spiderman. The movie fits well in the Marvel Universe.

My Take:
The jokes miss and so do the characters making this a stinker of a movie to set through.

My Take:
If one doesn't compare it to the epic source material then you might not be disappointed. Just think of the movie as another turn in the wheel of the saga.

Premise:
A Chicago family enlists the help of a priest to help find out what is wrong with their youngest daughter. They determine she is possessed by a demon.

My Take:
The series plays up a tad more graphic than expected and has a nice link to the original source material. The show takes its time planting seeds that end up with a good payoff. I'll probably end up watching season two.

Premise:
A couple head out into the Thai jungle to help with their failing marriage but come across something neither expected.

My Take:
There is a lot not explained in the movie concerning the couple - what happened to them or what attacked them. Maybe it's just lost on a person who doesn't know the local lore. The movie remains intriguing and quite odd until the end.

Stan Against Evil, Season 2 (2017)

Premise:
A small town has a curse put on it by an former constable from the 1800's. The current sheriff and the retired sheriff battle the supernatural elements imposed on the town.

My Take:
In it's second season the series starts flushing out the backstory with the town curse and has a few fun cameos. John C. McGinley is outstanding as always.

Premise:
A man dies and comes back as a ghost wearing a white sheet. He observes his wife going about her daily life and trying to reconnect instead of moving on.

My Take:
An extremely slow, art house drama with a few horror elements added. It can be a tad difficult to set through but has a unique tale to tell.

Premise:
A man has the ability to enter the subconscious mind of a person possessed by a demon. He gets hired to help save a young boy only to find out the demon is he battling is an old foe that cause havoc in his personal life.

My Take:
The movie has a fairly interesting take on possession and how to "exorcise" them. Unfortunately it falls into a demon wanting revenge scenario which completed lost me at that point.

My Take:

Crow's Blood, Season 1 (2016)

Premise:
A doctor who campaigns against cloning and regenerative techniques changes his mind when his daughter is in a fatal accident.  The procedure works but also changes his daughter into something no one ever suspected.

My Take:
I like the story but it gets a little confusing and hard to follow as the time line jumps around too often. It's definitely an East meets West horror mash up with lots of great visuals and creepiness. It also leaves the door open for future seasons.
