Grace: The Possession (2014)

Starring: Alexia Fast, Lin Shaye, Joel David Moore, Alan Dale, Clarke Peters
Director: Jeff Chan

Premise:
A young girl is possessed by a demon.

My Take:
While there isn't much here that hasn't been seen and done before (overbearing religious parent, corrupt priest, taking of the innocent), the movie manages to stay somewhat interesting throughout. Maybe it's because of the lead actress's performance. It's also shot entirely from the first person point of view which also helps it slightly (in this case).

A movie made to look like a throwback horror from the 80's that surprisingly hit the right marks in tone, gore, and comedy. It's not without its holes in the story but overall a fun 90 minutes.

The Purge, Season 1 (2018)

Starring: Gabriel Chavarria, Hannah Emily Anderson, Jessica Garza, Colin Woodell, Lee Tergesen, Amanda Warren, William Baldwin, Fiona Dourif, Lili Simmons

Premise:
Everyday people try to survive a night where all crime is legal.

My Take:
Like the movies, I find the concept fairly interesting but ultimately disappointing. The series is sort of the same way. It follows three separate stories/set of characters during Purge night. Each storyline is compelling but ends up being too much by the time it wraps up.
