My Take:
This is a B movie at its best.Surprisingly funny with lots of over the top gore, nudity, and crazy characters.

Short Night of Glass Dolls (1971)

Premise:
An American reporter wakes up in the morgue. He pronounced dead but his mind works as he attempts to figure out how he ended up there.

My Take:
A slow movie tale told mainly from flashbacks. A solid cast pulls the story through.

Human Lanterns (1982)

Premise:
Two rivals go to great lengths to win a lantern contest.

My Take:
With a Shaw Brothers production the view kind of knows what to expect (lots of cool martial arts scenes and a bizarre script full of strange things). This one has a mysterious dude kidnapping young women and lanterns made out of flesh. I usually find the movies fairly watchable but just couldn't get into this one.

The version I watched may have been the censored DVD. As the gore was a minimum. Might have rated higher if it wasn't.

Misfits, Season 1 (2009)

Starring: Antonio Thomas, Robert Sheehan, Iwan Rheon, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Lauren Socha


Synopsis:
A group of young adults performing community service gain different powers after being trapped in an electrical storm. Soon they start discovering themselves and find out they are not alone.

My Take:
This is a gem of series. It's funny, it has dark themes, and at times it's sad. A perfect blend of genres in the writing being performed a good cast.
This group doesn't horrific things and noble things in trying to figure out and come to terms with their powers. They also find out others were changed by the freak storm.
I'm hooked and will continue on to the next season soon.

Favorite Episode:
Episode 1.6 - The group finds out a girl is using her powers to brainwash other kids into her way of life.

Visiting Hours (1982)

Premise:
A journalist and advocate for battered females angers the wrong man/psychopath who decides to shut her up for good. After his initial attack fails, he tries again while she's in the hospital recovering.

My Take:
A watchable slasher flick where the villain cut out of the Norman Bates mold and Ironside plays it so damn well.

Mysterious America

Synopsis:
A guidebook on the mysteries, legends, and strange creature sighting across the US.

My Take:
You may know that I love cryptids and creatures of the unknown, so it's no surprised I loved this book.
Coleman fills it with case studies from years of research from him and other colleagues. Then he leaves it up to the reader to decide what to believe. It's filled with topics on Bigfoot, lake monsters, maned felines, pumas, North American Apes, devil monkeys (kangeroo type creatures), The Jersey Devil, giant fish, giant snakes, and many other things

Flick (2009)

Premise:
In London during the 50's a boy falls to his death in the river while driving his car. Fifty years later the car is suddenly found. Soon after mysterious deaths start to happen to those who did the boy wrong. A detective from Memphis is called in to help with the investigation.

My Take:
So much of this movie doesn't make sense. I dont even want to take the time to tear it apart.
My best advice is dont go near it.

The Grey (2011)

Premise:
A team of oil workers are on the way home when their plane crashes in the Alaska wilderness. The surviving men must fight the elements and a pack of wolves who turf they've landed on.

My Take:
A top notch cast, Neeson has never been better, rolls a solid script with the struggles of man vs nature, man vs beast, man vs man, and man vs himself.
It's not a perfect film but it sucked me in and really enjoyed it.
