Premise:

My Take:
Each story works on some level for me. I like that each is connected to each other and with an overall concept of the movie. A fun and creepy time.

Confessions of a Murder (2012)

Premise:
A man publishes an autobiography taking credit for the murders he has committed. The detective working the cases years ago, and haunted by not solving it, jumps back into trying to prove it. However a different killer with the same patterns pop up casting doubt on the murder's claim.

My Take:
A wild cat and mouse, who is really the killer, obsessed detective story. This follows the long line of great and twisted police thrillers from South Korea.

Westworld, Season 1 (2016)

Premise:
An amusement park where people can live out their fantasies with artificial robots in an Old West theme.

My Take:
I was basically hooked from the first episode. It is extremely layered and in depth with multiple timelines and several story lines being told all at once (complete with many flashbacks too). At times it can get a be convoluted to piece it all together. But there are plenty of surprises along the way and the payoff is worth it while setting up an intriguing second season.

This is bad, even for B movie trash flick. So much dumbness... and I should have known better.

They're Watching (2016)

Premise:
A television crew returns to an Eastern European village to do follow up on a home improvement show. They find hostile locals with deep superstitions and beliefs which leads to fight for survival.

My Take:
It takes a long time to build up to the final, and it's one that can be seen a long way out, but it's makes for a decent journey. It would have been nice to see more about the witches lore and village superstition in the story.

Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau (2014)

Premise:
A behind the scenes story of the infamous Island of Dr Moreau remake told by the original creator Richard Stanely, the producers, and the actors.

My Take:
There are several fascinating points to take away from the documentary. The first is how a studio still makes a movie despite not being 100% behind the making of it, which causes problems from the beginning. The second is how the director/writer's vision gets changed drastically throughout the process due to unforeseen circumstances. And the third is how much influence, egomaniac movies stars actually have on a film production which leads to astronomical amount of money loss. A great watch for anyone interested in behind the scene Hollywood film making.

Premise:
A production crews goes to a rural cemetery that was a site of an mass exorcism in the 1600's. While onsite the crew awakens the curse.

My Take:
The movie has some short comings but isn't terrible. The special effects are good and so is the story about the cemetery. Unfortunately, the viewer doesn't really care for the characters or their outcomes.

Entrails of the Virgin (1986)

Premise:
A group of up and coming models go to the woods with a photographer crew for a weekend photo shoot.

My Take:
Soft core porn disguised as horror flick. Seriously there's about 1 minute regular scene then it cuts to a 5 minute sex scene for the majority of the first half of the movie and since it's Japan, most of it is censored. The result is a film where you dont care about the characters. So when the horror does start happening it's not a big deal. I find it far more disturbing the way blatant misogyny portrayed in the film.
