Premise:
A college professor discovers his wife practicing magic and forces her to start only to find out colleagues are using magic against him.

My Take:
A good film based on Fritz Leiber's novel The Conjurer's Wife. 
Great atmosphere as the viewer isn't quite sure if the circumstances around the characters are real or in their head.

Hellavator: The Bottled Fools (2004)

AKA:  Gusha No Bindume

Premise:
In a futuristic society where elevator can go anywhere, several passengers get on. Chaos, mayhem, and death ensue.

My Take:
All in all, I found this movie to be boring and too over the top with its characters to be enjoyable. There's not one character that doesn't over act, especially the rapist and the school girl, and I found it to be distracting.
If you're a fan of Japanese splatter movies, maybe your opinion will differ.

Ghost Son (2007)

Premise:
A recently windowed woman finds out she is pregnant. After the birth, she starts to believe the baby is possessed by her dead husband.

My Take:
This is not one of the director's best works, despite the fine cast. There's a lot of melodrama and boring, meaningless scenes.

The Devil's Carnival (2012)

Starring: Sean Patrick Flanery, Dayton Callie, Briana Evigan, Paul Sorvino,

Premise:
Three souls enter a carnival ran in Hell to face judgment on their sins.

My Take:
Too bad the creators couldn't stretch out another 15 minutes for a full length feature because it is such a cool concept. I have read this is just the first episode in a hopeful series.
A fantastic cast, great music, and solid story makes this short extremely entertaining.

Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010)

Premise:
A young woman tries to escape from an institution where the head researcher has a growing interest in her.

My Take:
Quite a trippy film which relies heavily on visuals and sound effect making it have an experimental feel. And it moves slow. Very hard to fully describe.
It has strong actors and an interesting sci fi/horror hybrid script (at least until the end) which most people will probably either really dig or hate.
Definitely original.

Chop (2011)

Starring: Will Keenan, Timothy Muskatell

Premise:
A man is forced to pay for his past aggression from a mysterious stranger wanting retribution.

My Take:
This movie relies heavily on the two main players. They interact effortlessly making for some very funny and horrific moments.  As the movie plays out the viewer realizes neither are what they first appear.
There's a decent amount of blood and disturbing scenes both used more for comedic effort than terror.

The Unamable (1987)

Premise:
College kids wanting to debunk the legend of a monster locked in an old mansion's vault soon find out the legend is true.

My Take:
Loosely based on a Lovecraft tale. I'm not sure how or why I sat through this entire movie. It's bad and you know it after about ten minutes.
One positive thing I can say is the creature did look fairly cool.

Blood, Boobs, & Beasts (2007)

Premise:
The story of director/producer Don Dohler and his career in the independent movie business.

My Take:
A nice look to the troubles and successes of making ultra low budget horror movies. Plus the story of the man behind those movies from his beginnings in the business up to his death from cancer in 2006.
I must confess. I have never seen any of flicks. Maybe I'll have to search one out the next time I'm in the mood for a good bad movie.
